Tatted Doily 2009 row 3

This is not the final photo of this row of the doily. I actually had this pattern all figured out a few weeks ago, but I’ve had a devil of a time getting the correct length of the thread between rings in this row. I finally figured it out when making this last attempt. It looks so awful because I decided not to make you wait any longer for the pattern while I tat it again. I will post it again once I have it fixed.

Here’s a drawing of how it’s supposed to look.

Sometimes getting one row of a doily to fit smoothly above the previous row is a real challenge. This one was one of those! The rings in this row are arranged in a way that doesn’t allow for much stretching to fit, so the length of the thread between rings mattered more than usual.  After about three attempts, I have it figured out! You should only need to tat it once.

This row is beginner level and uses one shuttle (row 2 uses two shuttles). I used size 30 DMC Cebelia thread in white.
