Tatted Ornament

I stitched most of this design while I was in the mountains with my husband’s family at a reunion. It was fun to do while listening to them talk and reminisce about when they were growing up. I learned a lot about them on this trip, and had a great time!

This design started out as something that would fit a 2″ Christmas ball, but I think it would look better on a 3″ ball.  Choose any color scheme you want. Keep the colors all in the same family as I did here, or mix and match.

This pattern is intermediate (because of the beads) level and uses one shuttle. I used DMC Cebelia size 30.

Round 4

Repeat round 3, joining to rings next to the ones joined to in round 3. After stitching each ring, pass the shuttle through the space made in round 3 so that the draped seeds cross over each other.

Round 5

String the following pattern onto the shuttle thread 11 times.

13 purple seed beads, 1 drop bead, 13 purple seed beads

Repeat round 3, joining to remaining unjoined rings. Stitch behind rows 3 and 4–do not interlock with rows 3 and 4. After stitching each ring, slide up 13 seed beads, 1 drop bead, and 13 more seed beads.

Cut and tie.
