My first grandchild's quilt

My first grandchild's quilt

I became a new grandma this past December. Anybody who wields a needle knows, that meant it that I got to make something for the new baby. I saw this pattern some time ago and decided it would be perfect. I had recently gone through my stash of scraps and organized them by color, so it was really easy to pick the fabrics for it. Most of the fabrics were scraps my mother had cleaned out of her sewing room, and I bought the border and white fabrics to finish it all up. The one special fabric in this quilt is the red heart with blue on it. It's from a dress my mother made for me when I was a little girl. This was also my first applique project. I also made a temari ball to go with it using the scraps from the quilt as the center.
